History in the Making
We just may see see history tonight when the Saints take on the Falcons in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Drew Brees only needs 305 more yards to break Dan Marinos' record and although that may sound like a lot for most quarterbacks, it's not for Brees. Brees has thrown under 305 yards only three times this season. The last time the Saints took on Atlanta Brees threw for 321 yards. Tonight's game is a big one. Not only does Brees have the chance to set a record but also to help the Saints clinch the NFC South. The Dome will be rocking tonight and if the Saints can come out victorious the city will be rocking too. I think history will be made and the Saints will clinch the South. Only tonight will tell.

Big Game on Monday Night
The Monday Night Football game against the Atlanta Falcons is a big one. It could be the difference between a home game to start the playoffs or a road game. It also sheds light on how big the loss to the Rams was. The Saints are on an uphill road instead of the 49er's. If the Saints would have beat the Rams they would be in a position of owning second place with two more wins. Unfortunately now not only do the Saints have to win out but the 49er's must also lose a game. Playing in the Dome is a huge advantage for the Saints, a fact that will not be loss on Monday night's game. The Saints must play to their full potential and hope that a little voodoo magic will be working on San Francisco.

Defending the Saint's Defense
It seems there has been a lot of talk lately about the Saints defense. Even though there hasn't been a reel full of highlights for the defense I do think they are doing their job when it most counts. Some may disagree but it seems to me that although the Saints defense is ranked #27 in total yards allowed they are keeping opponents out of the end zone. They are making timely plays when needed. Not only did this occur in the final minutes against Tennessee but it also happened in Atlanta and in New Orleans when the Saints played the Lions. ( The Lions went 0-4 in 4th quarter possessions after coming within a touchdown of the Saints.) It's these types of games that define a team and it shows that these guys don't get rattled in high pressured situations. Although this isn't the action packed exciting defense of the 2009 Saints, there are some similarities. Particularly in yards allowed and points allowed. No matter how you look at it, whether they play pretty or ugly, the Saints defense has been winning games. Regardless of the lack of big defensive highlight plays the Saints are coming out on top. Who cares what the overall stats say when it's the outcome of the game that truly matters. Face it would people be saying how great the defense was if their numbers were good and they lost? Not a chance. So, who cares what the stats say as long as at the end of the game there is a "W" in the Saints column? Or are we so wrapped up in the numbers game that we can't see the forest through the trees? I for one see the forest clearly and I think it's in Indianapolis.

Shut the Buck Up!
Does anyone else get tired of the national media putting down the Saints? I can barley stand to listen to some of the announcers on Sunday Night or Monday Night Football because I get sick and tired of them making comments about the Saints. It seems that no matter what effort the Saints put forth, the national media shows little respect. Is it just me? Am I too sensitive or would some of you other Saints fans like to tell Joe Buck to shut the Buck up! I seriously considered getting t-shirts made in the 2009 Super Bowl season because I could barely stand Joe Buck's comments any longer. It seemed that even when the Saints were heading to Miami, the announcers were talking about how the road had been paved for the Saints to reach the Super Bowl and it wasn't meant in a good way. I hear the same types of comments being made this year. The only announcer that seems to give the Saints a fair shake is John Gruden. I suppose he feels obligated since he is friends with Sean Payton. JK. I truly think he appreciates the talent of the Saints team and coaching staff. Maybe I am just getting too thin skinned in my older age. Perhaps the rest of the fans in the NFL feel the same way about their team and the national media. I don't know but I would love to feel for once that the Saints are getting the respect that they deserve.
